Why Should You Start Using a Bidet?

Bidets might have been around for a few centuries, but for many countries and cultures, they’re still a big mystery. These bathroom fixtures are convenient and elegant. People who are using them are getting more for their money than a nice addition to their bathrooms. There are many health perks that bidets provide as well as a number of benefits for the environment. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise that people from America and Australia have started paying more attention to them and adding them to their bathrooms. Here are a few reasons why you should start using a bidet:

Great for your plumbing

Let’s face it – western world plumbing is efficient and convenient, and it’s designed for people who use toilet paper. Still, despite all of this, we often experience plumbing problems and we have to deal with clogged drains and damaged pipes. One of the reasons why this happens is because the pipes are old and the toilet paper can worsen the damage. Sadly, many of us have a plumber’s phone number memorized and we have to call them on a regular basis to help us out. Bidets can improve the situation significantly simply because they don’t use the toilet paper at all (or very little of it, occasionally). As a result, sewer pipes and your home plumbing are in for a treat and you’ll forget about clogs after a while.

Protect your back

The sad reality is that many of us have back problems. Sedentary lifestyle and this can make bending, twisting, and reaching back a real difficulty. This is especially important for the elderly because of their limited mobility, and the fact that with bidets they don’t have to reach back to wipe can help them stay independent longer. In addition, people recovering from an injury and pregnant women find bidets very helpful as well for the very same reason – they don’t have to go through the trouble of bending, twisting, turning, and reaching back. Washing up in bidets and washlet toilets is convenient and good for the back, not to mention the fact that pregnant women need to pay close attention to stay clean.  We know that the infection can be dangerous for the baby too.

Keep your skin healthy

Skin care and bathrooms are closely connected because that’s the place you go when you need to focus on your skin. Bathrooms can also be the cause of some skin problems, especially if you’re using improper methods to clean up. If you have Psoriasis, your nether regions can be affected too, and using toilet paper isn’t exactly pleasant at those times. Besides, when you use toilet paper you aren’t completely clean because there can be leftover residue on your skin. This residue can cause skin irritation and worsen any existing skin conditions you have. This is the reason why so many people choose to use bidets instead. They can relieve symptoms of certain ailments and they are very convenient

Women’s health in focus

Over the past several years, we can see that empowering movements are becoming much more focused on women’s wellbeing and health. Such topics are still considered inappropriate in some places, and in the past, they have even been taboo. As a consequence, there were many diseases that could have easily been prevented. Preventing infections is much easier when you take proper hygiene of genitalia. In the past, this was a topic that was forbidden to discuss and labelled as “shameful”. Women today have the privilege to not only know but openly discuss the fact that reproductive tract infections are one of the leading causes of female infertility. Proper hygiene can help women stay healthy and bidets are a way to prevent lower genital tract issues.

Help the environment

Everyone who’s been paying attention to climate change and global warming is doing everything in their power to go green. Tens of millions of trees are cut down every year in order to make toilet paper. Even though the use of recycled paper is encouraged, recycled toilet paper isn’t exactly appealing. Bidets, however, will be able to let you forego toilet paper completely. Even though bidets use water, they use it efficiently and you won’t be wasting it.

While many Americans still look down their noses on people who use bidets. They might want to tone it down a bit and reconsider using one themselves. Bidets are common in some parts of the world and people can’t imagine living without them. Even if you’re reluctant to use it at first, you could give it a try. It’s great for your personal hygiene as well as for the planet.
